Desiging a cover for the Music Program

Today you are going to design a picture that could be used on the Christmas music program!
The themes this year are:
Santa, Elves, Reindeer, Clocks, and Dance Party
  1. Have students try recall the names of some of their songs for their music program.
  2. Talk about the above themes and how to make art that can be used on the cover of them music program. (It must be drawn in pencil, traced in sharpie, and the pencil marks erased afterward.
  3. Demonstrate on paper taped to whiteboard, how to draw christmas themed subjects using basic shapes. Demo. tracing lines with a sharpie so that they know not to color with it.
  4. Remind students to draw a background...is it outside on the rooftop, at the North Pole, or by a Christmas tree? What are the characters doing?
  5. Distribute papers and pencils. Have students write their name on the back.
  6. Play Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as they get settled in. They may sing along :)
  7. Pencil, Trace Lines carefully with sharpie, and erase pencil marks.
